It's here, finally! Teaching is my passion, my hobby, my favorite! I have missed the smiling faces, the hugs, and of course, the teaching and learning. With 25+ years experience, I pride myself on building a positive rapport with every student. It's true, my students become my kiddos, and I am genuinely interested in who my students are and what they enjoy. By building this rapport, I gain a new family each year and students typically increase motivation and develop or grow a strong love of learning. Each year, my foremost focus is on student self-awareness in interacting with others and in learning. Supporting students in developing a growth mindset sets them up for life-long learning. In my class, students learn to use their "Bubble Gum Brain" when faced with challenges both socially and academically. As well, developing an understanding that mistakes are expected and show the students are trying and learning is key to educational success. Additionally, meeting students where they are, supporting them in setting goals for where they want to go, and instilling the Power of YET are crucial. Meaning, I am still learning and growing and might not be able to do it YET, but I can achieve it with practice and perseverance. These along with a fun, challenging, and positive community feeling help to ensure we all feel welcome, valued, and part of something bigger than ourselves.
This summer, I have definitely relaxed a good bit but have also prepared lessons to provide creative thinking and problem solving tasks. I'm excited for us to begin and to see all the growth each one of you make this year! I have a big heart, love to laugh, and enjoy learning new things. I can't wait to get started! It's going to be a great year!
