Mrs. Susan Caron

Dear Parents,

My name is Susan Caron and I will be your child’s Math and Science teacher this year. This is my 22nd year teaching and my 5th year at JES, I previously taught in Butts County after leaving in 2006.  I moved to Henry County in 2006 and taught at McDonough Elementary School until we closed in 2014, the following school year I transferred with my students to Walnut Creek Elementary where I was for 4 years.  My teaching career started here in Butts County, so returning was a homecoming for me.  My career started at the “old” Jackson Elementary in 2002 and in 2003 I helped open Daughtry Elementary where I stayed until 2006.

I grew up in Naples, Florida and I have a younger sister, she is a kindergarten teacher in Henry County, we taught together for 17 years in the same schools. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 1996 with my degree in Elementary Education. In 2008, I received my Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Walden University and I also received my Math Endorsement for grades K-8.  In 2014 I completed my Gifted Endorsement and am a certified Gifted teacher.

I live here in Jackson with my husband and two daughters, Kiersten who is in ninth grade at JHS and Savannah who is in fourth grade at JES this year.  I am very excited to be a parent and a teacher at JES. My husband is retired Air Force, 21 years, I am very proud of his achievement and grateful for his  service.  He works full-time at Robins AFB in Aircraft Maintenance with a speciality in Weight and Balance (he weighs and balances the aircraft before they return to their home base).

In recent years, I have become very aware of the impact teachers can have on the lives of their students. When the students enter the school they are handed over to their teacher's care for about seven hours a day. This year will be a challenge and quite different for each of us, for you the parent and for me the teacher and a parent.  I want to do everything I can to ease your mind and know I am following all protocols given to us by the county and by the CDC.  I want you to feel safe sending your child to school, I am a parent too so I will make sure your child is protected the way I want my daughters to be protected.   I have always been a great advocate of frequent parent/teacher communication. It is my hope that this note will be the basis for a great deal of dialogue and communication between us. We will discuss your child, what happens in our classroom, ways in which you can support your child's learning at home, and the ways in which I can extend what is done at home, at school. I am excited to be back in the building, I am excited to be in front of the students again and look forward to a great school year, NO MATTER WHAT IS THROWN AT US!!

If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me, I want to help you every step of the way.
