Welcome to the 5th grade! I am your student’s homeroom teacher, as well as their ELA teacher for this 2020-2021.

I am so excited for this school year with you and your student! I am thrilled and thankful to be a part of the Panda team here at Jackson Elementary School .I have a great deal of experience working with children. I was a counselor at the YMCA while student teaching. This will be my second year as an educator. I am from Jackson, Georgia and a former student of Jackson Elementary School.  I teach fifth grade ELA, which includes reading and writing. I have always had a passion for teaching, and always wanted to make a difference.

 

The first day of school will be August 17th, from a virtual classroom platform. Then we will move to an in classroom instruction model starting September 8, if you choose to send your student back to school. In our three week virtual instruction method we will be using the Google Classroom platform! Your student should have received a Google Classroom invite from their teachers on Friday, July 31st. Please work with your student to accept the invitation for their prospective Google Classrooms. This school year we will be using email and Bloomz for communication, as well as telephone. Bloomz is a web based application that can be accessed through a downloaded app on your phone or through https://www.bloomz.net/.  The access code you will need is NVX8M8 to join our classroom. 

Important information that is crucial to kick start our year together:

  1. Open House will be August 11, 2020 beginning at 5:30PM-7:30PM. Open house will be conducted outside this year. In attending, please be mindful of social distancing. The 5th grade team will be located at the front of the school, where you would usually pick your child up for car riders. Attached to this email is a map of our open house location. 

  2. ChromeBook Checkouts. 

If your student is in need of a chrome book for the first three weeks of our virtual learning, we will have those for you. The dates for Chromebook check outs are 

August 4, 2020 9:00 am - 11:00 am & 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

August 5, 2020 9:00 am - 11:00 am & 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

August 6, 2020 9:00 am - 11:00 am & 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

To check out a chromebook the parent or guardian must be present, the student does NOT have to be present. Please bring identification with you when you come to check out the chrome book.

We are excited to take on this school year with you! We understand that this year brings with it uncertainty, anxiety, and a lot of questions.
