Congratulations to the Extra Mile Award Winner for August, Daughtry Elementary School Instructional Coach, Mrs. Melinda Chambers.
As Roy T. Bennett stated, “Great leaders create more leaders, not followers.” Melinda Chambers is a true example of this kind of leadership.
As an instructional coach at Daughtry Elementary School, Melinda goes above and beyond to support teachers and promote student success. From mentoring new educators and sharing valuable resources to modeling instructional strategies, co-teaching lessons, and helping teachers grow professionally, she is always ready to lend a hand.
Her dedication was especially evident when she took time during summer break to welcome and support a new Butts County Schools teacher, helping them navigate the Reading and ELA curriculum and feel prepared for the year ahead.
Melinda’s generosity, expertise, professionalism, and servant leadership have made a lasting impact on the Daughtry and Butts County Schools communities. She inspires confidence, encourages excellence, and empowers those around her to become the best educators they can be.
We are lucky to have teammates like Mrs. Chambers at Butts County School System.

On the afternoon of September 1, 2026, a Henderson Middle School student suffered a medical emergency requiring transportation by helicopter.
