At the beginning of the 2025–2026 school year, Butts County Fire and Emergency Services partnered with Daughtry Elementary School, and began teaching third-grade students one day each month on important fire and life safety topics. These lessons followed the Georgia Learning Standards for third graders and included: Fire safety, fire escape planning, cooking safety, bike safety, child passenger safety, and child abduction prevention.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026 they honored these third-grade students with a fun-filled fire safety celebration. Activities include the Fire Safety Trailer, Jr. Firefighter Challenge, Seatbelt Rollover Simulator, putting the “fire” out, how to call 9-1-1, and tours of fire trucks, tools, and equipment. Students will also enjoy popcorn and snow cones.
