Students are continuing to build their independent reading stamina each day. Each child has a bag of self-selected, “just right” books that they use during independent reading time, helping them stay engaged and successful.
While students read, Ms. Barnes confers one-on-one with readers—listening in, noticing their reading behaviors, and offering personalized compliments to help strengthen their confidence and skills.
Their hard work paid off! Students reached their stamina goal and earned a special reward: flashlight reading! The room was filled with excitement as students curled up with their books and read by flashlight, celebrating their progress as growing readers.
