First our Kindergarten and 3rd grade buddy class met in the Writer's Cafe.
They each shared the narratives or opinion writings they have been working on. The Kindergarten students were beaming after reading to the big kids, and the 3rd graders enjoyed mentoring younger writers.
In 5th grade, Mr. Watson and his 5th graders were learning about plotting ordered pairs while taking on the role of Air Traffic Controllers. The students had a coordinate plane, 3 airplanes, and a mission to get all 3 planes to their destination without crashing.
The collaboration across grade levels and incorporating real world application of the standards keeps learning LEVELING UP all throughout the halls of JES this week.

On the afternoon of September 1, 2026, a Henderson Middle School student suffered a medical emergency requiring transportation by helicopter.
