Graduation 2024

Contingency Plan

  • On May 24th, we will monitor the weather until the last minute, and we will aim to make a decision on whether to delay or postpone graduation until around 5:00 PM on the Friday of graduation. If the rain is light, and there is little threat of lightning, we will proceed.

But if the threat of thunderstorms is too great and rain is heavy, we will put the safety of our students and guests first and postpone it until Saturday.

    Grad Plan

    • If it becomes necessary to postpone our ceremony to Saturday due to the threat of severe weather, our first option will be to hold graduation ceremonies in the stadium at Red Devil Hill on Saturday, May 25th, at 9:00 AM.
    • If conditions have not improved, and we still need more time, our next option will be to hold the ceremony in the stadium at Red Devil Hill on Saturday, May 25th, at 2:00 PM.
    • If weather conditions remain stormy in the afternoon, our next option will be in the stadium at Red Devil Hill on Saturday, May 25th, at 7:00 PM.
    • Finally, if weather conditions do not improve throughout the day on Saturday, we will move the ceremony to Sunday, May 26th using the time options of 2:00 PM or 7:00 PM or any possible window in between.

It is POSSIBLE that if we see an opportunity on Friday or Saturday, we might propose a delay or adjusted schedule that might deviate from these published times.

After the Graduation Ceremony

  • All Graduates and JHS faculty members will exit Red Devil Hill through the visitor gates.  The graduates will immediately report to the lobby of the Butts County Performing Arts Center to receive their official Jackson High diploma from their senior advisement teacher.  We ask that family members and friends allow the graduates to proceed uninhibited to this destination.  There will be designated areas for family photos after they receive their diplomas.
