Volunteering with Butts County School System
Would you like to donate your time or resources to help the children of Butts County School System? This means the world to us. If you want to get involved, we will make a way!

Donations and Volunteers are always welcome at Butts County Schools. The following are some suggestions of ways you can get involved.
- Feed the Hungry - Donate dry goods and non-perishables to our school system “Backpack Program.” This program is designed to give students who leave school on Friday a few items of food to help with their hunger over the weekend. Contact Susan Sarsany, sarsanys@bcssk12.org, if interested.
- Providing Books - Adopt a classroom, school, or grade-level in BCSS and offer to provide new or used books for children to read who don’t have them at home. Contact any school principal if interested.
- Reading to Children - Adopt a classroom, school, or grade-level in BCSS and come in on a regular basis to read to children. Contact any school principal if interested.
- Putting Shoes on their Feet - Adopt a school and offer to donate funds to purchase new shoes for children in need for our annual shoe drive. Contact Susan Sarsany, sarsanys@bcssk12.org, or any school principal if interested.
- Putting Coats on their Back - Adopt a school and offer to donate funds to purchase brand-new winter coats for needy children. Contact Susan Sarsany, sarsanys@bcssk12.org, or any school principal if interested.
- Giving a Gift - Adopt a school, classroom, or grade-level and offer to provide holiday presents for families in need. Contact Susan Sarsany, sarsanys@bcssk12.org, if interested.
- Share Your Expertise - Adopt a school, classroom, or grade-level and offer to come and share information about your career or special interest. Contact any school principal if interested.
- Beautify the Learning Environment - Adopt a school, classroom, or grade-level and offer to participate in school beautification, landscaping, and playground safety projects. Contact any school principal if interested.
- Sponsoring a Musician - Adopt a child who needs help renting a music instrument for our band program. Contact the middle or high school principal if interested.
- Sponsoring an Athlete - Adopt a child who needs assistance with participating in county recreation athletics. Contact any school principal if interested.
- Help with Homework - Adopt a school and offer after-school homework help and support with study skills and organization. Contact any school principal if interested.
- Cafeteria Mom/Dad - Adopt a school and offer to volunteer in the cafeteria once a week. Contact any school principal if interested.
- Adopt-a-Club - Volunteer to work with a club sponsor at any of our schools during club meetings and assist with fundraisers and service projects. Contact any school principal if interested.
*For safety reasons, all volunteers must have a background check and register their names for approval to be placed on the “Volunteer List” for BCSS before they can participate.
