We want to provide you with an update on the matter related to the threatening social media post directed at Henderson Middle School. As stated previously, we became aware of this threat overnight and have continued to investigate the situation. The post was created using the Snapchat social media platform and was widely shared throughout our community. School administrators and law enforcement officials will utilize all available resources to keep our students safe and identify those responsible for the communication.
Our school day is underway, teachers and students are making every effort to focus on teaching and learning. We will always take these matters seriously and respond with urgency. I want to assure everyone that we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our students and staff while we continue to investigate. We have additional law enforcement officers on campus to provide support and assist with school operations. We will operate using our precautionary lockdown procedures out of an abundance of caution until this matter is resolved.
Again, we will provide you with updates as information becomes available. Please be assured that our top priorities are to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Unfortunately, incidents such as this are occuring far too often in schools across the country. These incidents are alarming and cause a great deal of stress for everyone. It is important for all of us to continue working in collaboration with one another to ensure that our schools can continue to operate safely, despite efforts such as this to disrupt our learning environments.
