Due to recent information received during a National Weather Service briefing regarding potential severe weather caused by Hurricane Helene, the Butts County School System will be closed on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The weather forecast is expected to bring high winds, heavy rain and possible flooding in our area overnight Thursday and into Friday morning. The potential for high wind gusts and heavy rain/flooding would make it unsafe to operate large vehicles such as school buses. In addition, the potential for downed power lines and trees can cause hazardous travel conditions for our students, staff, and stakeholders. 

All after-school activities for Thursday, September 26, 2024 will be canceled. A decision will be made at a later time regarding the football game and homecoming activities. 

As always, the safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance. We encourage everyone to continue to be weather aware. If circumstances change or conditions worsen, we will provide updates through Infinite Campus Messenger, local media, social media, and the BCSS webpage.
